BiographyHess's industrial landscape paintings originated from the historic mills of Providence and Pawtucket and have grown to include more diverse industrial sites from across the country. She is drawn to the most utilitarian and geometric industrial architecture with a focus on abandoned sites in various states of decay. The work has been and continues to be highly realistic but is evolving into altered and simplified versions of the subject matter rather than straightforward representation. Hess travels frequently to find new subject matter.
