The Distillery in South Boston celebrates 25 years as a vibrant community of artists with its annual Spring Open Studios on Sunday, June 7th. In addition, the neighboring King Terminal block (570 E 1st St [enter Elkins or K St] & 110 K St) will also be opening its doors to showcase the creative efforts and studio spaces of the many artists and craftspeople working within.

As a long-standing focal point of the arts in Boston, The Distillery continues to garner recognition from the press and the surrounding arts community. Housing three galleries among its 75 units, this former rum distillery remains to be a stable and prominent force in the Boston art scene. Painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, metalwork, jewelry, woodwork, installation, video, ceramics, fabric work, and much more can all be found under one roof in this amazing and unassuming brick building in Southie.

A few blocks down the street will be more open doors at another long-time South Boston art landmark, King Terminal. A dozen-or-so participants will have their studios open and their work on display as they welcome the public into this interesting and unique set of buildings on East First St, between K St and Summer St.

Spring Open Studios @ The Distillery and King Terminal is free and open to the public, rain or shine, Noon - 6pm. Public transportation is easy, take the Red Line to Broadway and walk East, or take the #7 City Point bus from South Station to Elkins St. A detailed list of participants, directions, and contact info can be found at: www.distilleryboston.com.

Twice a year the Distillery opens its doors to the public for Open Studios. In the fall we participate in South Boston Open Studios on the first weekend of November. In the Spring, we host our own event on the first Sunday of June.

Both events welcome visitors to explore the building and the creative environments in which the artists produce their work. Open Studios is always free and open to the public. Check back for specific dates and times.

For more info on South Boston Open Studios and the other participating artist organizations, visit www.southbostonopenstudios.org.
